The best one I've seen yet, too. This story always makes me smile, no matter how many times I read through it [and this is the sixth time or something]. Jacob is THE MAN YEAH LET'S LIVE IT UP! Thanks for all the information in this chapter. And Shade's epiphany, that this life might be his, was something I thought of a bit ago. Although I figured that he was like Jacob (in the "not fitting" sense), but that he had forgotten he used to feel like that when he was alive. Now, though. . . . If that really was his slot, I have no idea what's going on, unless the gods decided that Shade would soon break or go crazy or something and he deserved to learn how to be human again. . . .

I don't know. Just a guess.

I like the narrator. Jayden is so cute and so obvious.

In chapter 15 Jacob could have argued that his body had been beaten up before and since those boys were still walking the streets, obviously no one had helped before. Why call out if it doesn't do any good? Beating someone to the point of hospitalization is a felony. The fact that the school, his parents, the doctors, etc. turned a blind eye means that calling out wouldn't have done any good. Telling the bullies to stop then going to class as if nothing had happened won't keep it from happening again.


The chapter has an epiphany so it doesn't need action. I can't wait to see what Jacob does with this life.
