| dooley creel 2007-08-30 ch 1, | Hey, A twig is also an ephemeral entity, albeit less apparently so than a leaf. This poem seems so serious as to be almost cathertic. I have read it previously, however since it was written a while ago, I didn't respond, but I enjoyed reading it again this time around. There are still snatches of the sonnet writer, "Briskly churning, bound brooks yearning," and I also like, " Leaf courses through the veins of the world," "Shedding the past, never learning," is particularly good. The poem seems very personal, strongly emotional and dramatic, if not at times downright dire... but I doubt anyone would call it insipid! Do blossoms count? Spent cherry blossoms Obscenely grace the asphalt One last passing breath Trodden by blind rubber wheels Crushed they will not rise again. later, be well |
| Bragi 2007-03-17 ch 1, | Godd to hear from you again, Mike. It's been months, if not years. and it seems you're back strong as ever- I loved the piece. first time I've ever heard a leaf portrayed in a depriciating tone...usually they are praised for their flagrant deaths. It seems also that your core principles have taken a dramatic shift to the right over the years. it's good to see you conservative republicans can still write poetry. |
| Rachel Blair 2007-03-09 ch 1, | Good flow, as usual very good diction and word choice. I'm not sure what it is, but i think the wnd could maybe use a little fine tuning, maybe i'm wrong. |
| Lana Mira Beth 2007-03-08 ch 1, | Very nice. It may not be Memories, but it tells quite a story none the less, and the imagery therein is more than admirable. Beautiful actually. You can really trace the journey of the leaf. Anyway, lovely metaphor, though I still believe that home, place and family are what you're strong enough to make them and not necessarily where your inception lies. Although, I do agree with trying to understand one's origins to understand oneself. I do agree, it does no good to deny the beginning. However, if one stays too close, one cannot hope to find their own ending. Nice job; the message provokes thought. "Beauty is truth, truth beauty." -John Keats |
