I can't believe that I never got around to reading this. This was brilliant. The innocence, the heartbreak, the deception, the end...what a wonderful twist on the Little Red story. Well done SJ. Well done. ^_^

This hurt. I have tears in my eyes and a pain in my heart from this story. Just so you know.

I have never read Queen of Glass. However, WHEN it gets published, I will be among the first to buy it. You have impressed me very much with your two one-shots, and you are now officially up there with some of my favourite authors =D.

These stories were definitely not a waste of time. Creative takes on fairy tale worlds are the best, and yours definitely take the cake. Go you =D!

This was so incredibley sad. I felt so bad for Fenris and Chaperon. But at least they no longer had to put up with the war and such, and could move onto a better place. Very well written story. Good work.

I remember being obsessed with Queen of Glass and I am so glad you have more stories out for, your writing is just as good as I remember.

This retelling was more than amazing. Words can't explain how beautiful this piece is. I loved your "Queen Of Glass". Although I wasn't able to finish it, It's nice to think that it's because you are getting it published. Best of luck

Sarah, this story made my eyes well with tears. There is something so genuinely human and honest in your retelling that really makes it believable.

Something I think you can work on is the beginning. Although I understood all of the fairy tale allusions you made, some of them felt forced and appeared rather suddenly (like the names of the places/kingdoms you chose, the Pigs, etc.). Of course, it all made sense as you moved into the body of the story, but the opening could use a little more polishing. Slow down a little!

Something more to keep in mind is that although all of your stories are extremely compelling in their own rights, the relationship between Fenris and Chaperon seems really reminiscent of that of Chaol and Celaena. That's not meant as a criticism, but it's something I've noticed.

What I liked: As awful as the death of Fenris is, you made some really unique decisions for the process of his death, and that was really believable. I also really liked how your story, despite its remarkable similarity to the Romeo and Juliet tradition, has its own personality and individuality. Also, nice play on the dragon's head effect from The Hero and the Crown; I thought it was very effective. Brava!

Dear S.J.Maas,

The whole idea of you publishing is rather bittersweet. One on hand I'm ecstatic that I'll finally be able to read Queen of Glass in print. Nevertheless, I won't be able to read it whenever I so please until you publish. Best of luck in your future! Tell us when your book comes out so all your devouted fans can go buy it!

PS. Please make sure that you sell in Canada so your fans up North can buy a copy too

I always love twisted fairy tales, and this one is extraordinary. It amazes me how you created such an original view of the Riding Hood story while preserving perfectly the dark, magical tone of old folklore.

Dear S.J.Maas

Now that you've taken Queen of Glass of this site, I guess your really doing well with the publishers. I wish you every bit of luck, and can tell you that I will look forward to buying a copy.

I never finished reading it myself - I started reading this when I was in year seven? eight - that would be almost five years ago, and i've loved every minute of it.

Thank you so much for writing - it gave me great joy, and i sincerely believe you deserve to be published.

I do not believe the story is perfect - pacing details, sometimes too abrupt changes in mood, but it is GOOD. and presumably you're taking care of all that (:D)

I will look forward to reading that second half when you do get published - until then I'll refrain from whingeing that 'I can't read it anymore TT_TT' so please keep writing everything else too - Chaperon was brilliant too.

so I wish you the best,

and thank you

~K

This story is so touching. There aren't any words to describe the feeling it gave me. Beautiful and magical writing.

Wow, this is beautiful. You really have a way with words ne? :O It's as beautiful as the guy who wrote the Lord of the Rings series! And that's a beautiful compliment btw! ;D

The forest seems to have a weird sense of humor. O.o Following the music . . . that sounds like something I'd do. Wait no, I'd probably just continue on my way while listening and bouncing to it. LOL.

I'm loving that this is in the POV of the wolf! O.O awesomeful! XXD Random fact: I want a red cloack like that! O.o And a black one . . . and green . . . XXD Ha ha, you mentioned the Glass Queen! X33

If I were that girl I'd be hauling a$$ right about now. LOL. What a nice wolf, just leaving like that, speaking all politely. I want him for a pet. O.o I am SO imagining a wolf wearing a crown right now. And it's adorable. LOL she wants him to carry her basket, I love this girl. HA HA! I want to ride a wolf! >:3 OMG the three pigs! Let me in biyatch! I so need to calm down. I've been sucking down sugary goo for awhile. When it said stone I thought of 'Snake Head' LOL. I hope he doesn't kill the little girl!

The beard of a woman? =/

OMG! I'm CRYING that POOR, POOR wolf! TT_TT

WOW, married at 14. DAMN.

OMG I LOVED THIS! It was beautifully tragic and I love it. O.o I feel so sorry for Chaperon and Fanris, I even cried a bit, this was awesome!

that was really amazing...i rarely read sad stories cause i don't really like them (since they're sad hehe...) but this one is really really good! i didn't know it was sad, but i would have refrained from checking it out if i did...good thing i didn't though, this was really good...i love it..i love the way you "twisted" the fairy tale so that those that are usually villains actually get their "part" of the story out into the world...well done.
Meythé 2008-06-16 . chapter 1
This is... so very sad. I'm not sure why, but it touched me. It is not often I find a story, a book which truly gets to my heart, and I always treasure them. Just telling you, I'm adding Chaperon to my list.

Ah, I also read your other one-shot, Why Not Me? I could never feel sympathy towards that witch, unlike Elphaba after reading Wicked - who I ended up loving- and though I still don't like her, after reading it I felt like a window opened in my mind.

For me, at least, your stories are the official versions; you should really try to get them published. Now I just have to start reading Queen of Glass, and I'm up for a ride there - 678,579 words? Just my kind of book. I live in South America, so if it does get published (And I wish you the best of lucks about that) the chance of getting it edited and shipped here is pretty slim, but that won't stop me from buying it. I haven't read it yet, but I already now it must be awesome.

I guess I'll see you again in QoG sequel, if you do make it and you do post it on

I can only wish some day I'll write half as well as you!
