abuseI totally have a thing for stalker/peeper stories. So I was like, in a state of happiness when I first started reading. Then the creepy and disturbing stuff happened, and the fic started getting all meta. Which was cool, in a confusing kind of way. It seems like it would be difficult to write a story that is metaphorical and nonlinear; often, I just wonder if writers and artists allude to some non-existent "higher meaning" in their works just to make themselves seem more intelligent and add prestige to their creations.

But I'm sure there's *something*-some meaning and metaphor-beyond the obvious and the inscrutable in this piece. Okay, mainly I'm thinking that because of the title and the desire to integrate the seemingly incongruous sections- I admit that. :) But the symbolism is not depicted plainly enough so that I can grasp it. For instance, I have the idea that the Bodwin's seven kids is not a random number, so I think "deadly sins," and try to pair up characters and vices. Andy- gluttony; Hillary- pride; Stacie- envy... but that's as far as I get. So I gave up that hypothesis until I started wondering what Royce would be, and the best that I could figure was "wrath." And it kinda makes sense: the violent imagery at the end and repeated allusions to death, the connection to the "demon" beast (love the name "Evil Twinkie" btw!), the disfiguring scar, Royce's bitter thoughts of Forest's life-bringing energy to his family along with the hints of intent to sully the neighbor's "embodiment of perfection." And that makes sense more than anything else.

I never rule out the possibility that I read too much into things, but since this story seems to cry out "I have a deeper meaning!" I thought I'd submit my humble and shaky interpretation, and mention that perhaps someday maybe you would want to take another look at this story and incorporate some more hints of precisely what is being symbolized and personified by whom.

abuseWow o_o; That last part... just.. wooah. I didn't really understand it =/

So... the three main characters are, I'm guessing, Forest Adler, Royce, and ... Evil Twinkie? And what they personify. wow that's hard. x_x And for some reason, I'm thinking of the seven deadly sins O_o;

Forest Adler - gluttony
Royce - Anger
Evil Twinkie - Greed

Okay yeah I'm completely wrong, but that helped calm me down a bit after reading your story :P

abusewell, i've read this about three to five times now, and i'm afraid to admit that i still become lost about halfway through, when i'm not sure if something is reality or not. but i think that's the charm of it, right?

to not know if something is a fantasy, or whether a reader should be taking your words at face value. hm.

at any rate, i rather enjoy it. especially the 'pecker sandwich,' as my friend called it. >
