This poem really hit home for me. It was intense to read and hurt a lot. Just the feelings you've brought back in your simple words and phrases. "The stars will dampen beneath my gaze" or "While the stars are killing crickets/(And the hopeful songs they carry.)

Especially this one:

"Someday these words will reach you/And you'll realize that your happiness was all that mattered,/(Even if it killed me a little inside.)
