Hakajin 2007-04-20 . chapter 1I like this pretty well. I really do think that psychiatric medications are overprescribed, especially among children. Adults seem to think they can adjust children's behavior to suit their own needs. It really disgusts me.
But also remember that not everyone is just out for conformity. I'm on an anti-depressant myself, and it's definitely not for that. It's really terrible to be depressed all the time. No one wants to feel that way. Sometimes I feel like I should just deal with it on my own because people so often talk like this, but why should I be miserable when I don't have to be? When I'm like that, I can't be my normal self. It should be a personal choice. I'm not saying that drugs are the only treatment, but they do help, especially when it's something physical and not circumstancial. What I mean is, when depression is not rooted in reality, and results from exaggerated or imagined things rather than what's happening in real life. So yes, drugs are way overprescribed as a quick fix, but there are still people who really do need them. |
