This is simply great. I had a smile on my face from start to finish. In just a short time you've created two instantly likeable characters (and one not so likeable) and a setting that is heartwarming as it is real.
Particularly enjoyed the "She secretly agrees, having read both texts at school. But she’ll be damned if she’ll admit it" exchange. Your talent at the short story is something to be admired.
