Fine if it's just written for a friend, I really like the line about enjoying life as much as life would let them. Absolutely full of grammatical errors (I don't believe you meant to call your friend an a that as apposed to a who), blah blah blah. Even if you are trying to write to the reader, always avoid saying you, as it weakens the story.
