Strong diction, strong images (although I was confused about how eyes can be clear-colored. If you meant blue, I would clarify.) and an overall powerful piece. I only found one potential grammatical problem:

'Unfortunately everyone around her weren’t so sympathetic.'

Check the tense and number of 'weren't'. I'm not certain whether or not it's correct, but it sounds wrong.
