Anyways - I love this! Jacob and Ross are so MAN and adorable (in that manly kinda way). The world needs more stories about hockey and gayness mixed into a package of awesome! Their interaction was so fun and natural!

I know the feeling - so painful! And I'll do it forever and ever and never get any farther in the story, glahh! I always think 'I'll just write this and whatever goes goes' but it doesn't XD It never does! Back to the point: this was super awesome and I hope to see more from you!

I really don't know what else I can say that nobody on here's already said. This was mindblowingly amazing. I LOVE the whole rival thing. Hot. Then that they're both athletes. Again, HOT. And that they are gettin' it on. This blew my mind.

Extremely well written, and the characters were great. The make out scene was PERFECT. Seriously, flawless. In my opinion, you couldn't have done any better. Oh, and the ending...haha. Whoops ;)

Wow! Is it just me or did the temperature rise substantially from reading this story?

What I loved most about "Rivals" is that you've portrayed both main characters with masculine qualities. Unfortunately, in most "slash" fictions that I've read, at least one half of the main pairing is characteristed with overly feminine qualities. Not only does this makes the story appear as a heterosexual story dressed with slash overtones, it shows that the "writers" drew their characterisations from common stereotypes (i.e. that gay guys are small, scrawny, emo, have feminine traits, are always abused and have suicidal tendencies).

Thankfully, you've taken the other route and portrayed both of your main characters as masculine and sport-crazy. It's more challenging, yet more rewarding, to characterise the pair in this way, as it defies the idea of a conventional relationship (i.e. a dominant figure and a submissive figure). What you've done is fantastic and I sincerely hope that you'll consider expanding this one-shot into a multi-chapter fiction, as its plot has so much potential. For example, you could explore the challenge that Jacob and Ross face in reconciling their roles as both rivals and love-interests.

If you've decided to leave the story as it is, then I hope that you'll continue with the themes, characterisation and writing style in your future stories. Good luck and I look forward to seeing more from you!

the kissing scene was just fine, it was hot. ;) and I love the fact that this one is about ice hockey! because no one, and I mean, no one likes ice hockey in most countries... I'm not much of a fan myself but since I'm living in Finland I gotta like it a litte. :P yay for hockey slash!
