Wow, I really like this! Usually I just think stories making Disney characters seem anything but what they are in the movies are odd, but you pulled this off alright. It was actually quite depressing, especially the whole analogy with Neverland and there not being happy endings. Very sad. But very well done anyway. I'm curious now. Gonna read the sequel... :P
At first I wasn’t sure whether I like this or not, but then I got so into it I was disappointed when it finished.
I liked the way you’ve created a world that is the complete opposite of what you would expect from a fairy tale, but there are still some almost fairy tale qualities to it. Like the fact they are all whores is because that the ruler if a princess rather than a princess.
There are some really bits in it as well. Like the idea of Pimp Charming. I loved that because it twisted the whole concept of it out of shape. And the observation about Hook being everywhere was well observed. I like the world you’ve created.
The only character I really felt really strongly about was Cin though. Possibly because she is the one narrating. The rest didn’t stand out very clearly, but then there are quite a few of them for a short piece.
I am looking forward to reading the others though.
Haunting. Beautifully written, definitely. How else to say it but: "you have a way with words". The only negative was the all-too-obvious attempt at engendering pity for the characters. Indeed, I should say that you were TOO succesful at this. Pity is good, but not when it leaves me more than a little spiteful of the characters. What makes these particular whores any different from all the OTHER abused prostitutes we've read about...do you see?
There is something in this story. LOVED the allusion to fairy tales. Is this story a metaphor? Good good good!! Jealous.
