Reviews For: Take a Walk with Me sonnet
sathepine 2007-06-02 . chapter 1
First off, this is a beautiful poem, meaningful and deep, and I like it. However, regarding the thoughts you've expressed here, I think it's a little unfair to believe that this is who god is. The people, the different churches, the different religions are the ones who dictate, not god. If life is hell, it is your own fault, or other people's, or the circumstances, but not god. If you want life to be better then you make a move, not god. God may not even exist. And if you believe that he exists, then don't believe that he exists just to make your life better. YOU exist to make your life better. Well, I'm just saying my thoughts. Peace! (Did I mention this is a beautiful poem? Hehehe)

Haha, you're so adorable. We all have our little doubts, we can't all follow blindly. Yet...there are so many different perspectives we can use to see the world and see religion and see...pretty much everything. If science is the how, religion is the why, so what you're asking is "Why are you sitting up there all snug as a bug and we're laying down here writhing in our own **?"

Well...if we really were made in "God's own image" then if we were immortal, we could be God. Think about it like this, perhaps we're God's artificial intelligence. We can make robots that can be so much like us but cannot feel or have true emotion. Then we could say perhaps God made robots (us) and WE don't have everything that He has.

God HAS to be fallible if WE'RE fallible. Maybe we're a mistake? He couldn't leave us though, think about it this way, if you created a bug, this bug was your LIFE'S WORK right? You can't leave it alone, you want to track its progress and maybe interfere with it a few times for its benefit or its downfall. Then perhaps you would be content to leave it alone and see what it does. Sort of like when you sit and watch The Sims without touching the keyboard.

Sure, there's a little bit of sadism put into that but YOU created it. You have little attachment to something that could never have your intelligence or your emotion. That's why children are different, they are little yous. But if you had a robot child, you would not be as attached as if you had a real child. If you created this robot however, you might care for it slightly more than if you simply bought it.

We're God's MAGNUM OPUS (If you so choose to put yourself on so high of a pedestal)...so to speak. He couldn't just leave us alone. We're little bugs he's leaving alone for a little bit, once we start destroying ourselves he gets a little disturbed. I'd be pretty disturbed if my genetically engineered bugs started killing each other randomly.

It's a cycle. One bug dies, another one is created. If that child wasn't torn away from his/her mother, the world for them would be better, that's true, but perhaps because of the death of that child they were spared from something more gruesome later in life.

Besides, sometimes you've just got to thin the herd. Too many bugs running around. We've gotta be realistic. No matter who dies in this world, that was somebody's baby. Practically everyone will be missed, you can't really avoid it.

Sadism, mental illness, physical illness, deformities, maybe they weren't planned...maybe they were. Have you ever had a moment in time when you leaned over and took pity on an ant with only four legs? A fly with only one wing? A dog who lost a leg or was born without one?

ARGH! Ranted again...pretty much the point is that maybe you shouldn't blame God. Maybe he's just as disgusted as you are.
