again, this was pretty incredible writing.

You write beautifully! I love how you depict Demeter's connection with the earth-- even if you hadn't said who she was, we would know. You describe things with perfect language, and the little montage of images is wonderful!
I'm rather confused by one thing, though. Why is it that things grow cold? Persephone should, if anything, end up warmer, assuming that she's taken by Hades as in the original myth, and it should be Demeter who causes the cold. I think that I like your new take, but I'm curious as to why you decided to tell the story in this way.

I see what you mean, I like the picture of a worried persephone, and the feral Demeter, it works beautifully. I liek the classical style too, the personification of the wild - it makes the inhuman qualities of Demeter contrast with the more human ones.
