I know this story is probably within a modern context, but I couldn't help but project a "Breakfast Club," or maybe even "Grease," time period on it while reading. It was like the perfect 80s or 50s pavement song, you know? Except it's not the girl and boy in the backseat of dad's pickup, but a boy and a boy. It was really really well written, and the characters really stuck out to me. Also reminded me of S.E. Hinton's "Outsider" characters: really tough, silent, bully greaser types with hearts of gold.

Ah, I know I'm a little late here, but...I love this! I nearly cried at the end when I thought Ray'd gone back to shutting himself off from the world. Oh, and the whole 'twist' thing by making Cole seem all bad-ass with his leather jacket but he's really a sweet-heart was genius! I have to say, I like this writing style. It helps give the character their own voice without pulling your hair out xD

I loved the writing style...very soothing ^^ The ending was very sweet... Er...can't really think of anything halfway intelligent to say! ^^; I just really liked it. :D

i hate "hopeful" endings (is that what you call them?) the most. they're like telling someone your brother is dead but it's okay because he's in a better place, sure.

i like the name you give some of the charecters, it was unqiue
and the images you put in, my god, such emotion, i loved it, the story, the idea.

Quite simply: I loved it. Pathetic fallacy right? Amazing -hugs-.

I love it to the tenth power! Very evocative language that enabled me to really have a mental picture of the setting without being overly detailed. I imagine this place as a sort of forgotten rural town in the middle of a highway to somewhere bigger, better, brighter. I simply adore the langauge and tone you create with it, "maybe I'll push him toward the highway where the cars go so fast, fast, fast and wouldn't stop for a boy in a leather jacket." Love it! The only thing I don't love is how repetitive I'm being so I'll stop.

ah, i loved this. it was just...gr. *laughs* i can't explain my reaction any better than that, just a low-pitched gr. three r's, not two or four, but three.

i liked the ending though, and i didn't think it was rushed. seemed normal enough for me. yes.

Finally read it and I'm sad that I didn't read it sooner. ;_; no really, I'm sad. This story made me cry ;_;
