Water Block 2007-06-16 . chapter 1That really is one of the worst blows an artist can get "it's pretty" "that's Great" "I liked it" but with no follow through. WHY is it pretty? WHY is it great? WHY did you like it?
If these questions go unanswered, it just shows the viewer does not care enough about the piece to truly relate what the painting/writing/art in general inspires in you. Or worst yet, it's just a placating phrase used BECAUSE it inspires nothing in the observer.
I really like the artist's child like enthusiasm and vision while he expresses how he feels about his relationship, and I felt really REALLY bad for him when he discovers, at least in part, that his beautiful girl friend is just that-pretty. There is no substance to her, and all of his artistic dreams and deep insights will be lost on this barbie doll.
