Emily Black 2007-10-24 . chapter 2
very, very interesting, although the idea itself isn't completely novel, I must say your style more than makes up for it...a very nice take on the characters, (loved the detail with the paper cuts) and finally, something I've been hoping to encounter in a vampire-hero character,(but typically never did), her reason for fighting the good fight:
"If public opinion had mattered to her, she would have tried making more of an effort to ingratiate herself to one side or the other, but Magdalana didn’t care about the petty squabbles between the races. She did what she did because her own sense of morality demanded it. After all, just because she was a vampire now didn’t mean she had left all her humanity behind."
Originality at last...
Do continue with the tale, I'm quite curious as to what will happen...

I liked the introductions. The dark practitioner one wasn't very clear about what he could do, but that may be on purpose as it adds a bit of mystery to him. The writing itself was interesting and the idea could make for a good plot.

As a bit of critique, we see the dark practitioner and the crusader's personalities come out a bit, which is cool, but... of the vampire and werewolf, it's harder to tell they're different people. Of course, there's plenty of time for character development if you continue on.

It is kind of a tease, though, and I'd like to see where the story goes. So good job! You have me interested!
