hey maria 2007-06-28 . chapter 1This is so wonderfully thought-out. I love the universality of this. The way he grew up like any other kid, and became the man we've all heard of. And the way "hero" can be construed in so many different ways: the hero-protagonist of Kafka's Metamorphosis, the artist who painted the Sistine Chapel, the president who authorized the bombing of Hiroshima -- not sometimes it's positive, sometimes not. And throughout it all he's still the same boy we've all known and grown up with. It's very well-written but it's the meaning behind it that makes it so great. Keep writing. |
