| Addyson 2008-07-20 ch 1, | abuseReview Marathon (link in profile) O, last paragraph was really interesting. It added to the whole mysterious air of things. Why does Morgan follow this guy as a different person everyday? Mysteriiouss. =) Great job. I really liked how this story is good and interesting. |
| Miss Pookamonga 2008-01-07 ch 34, | abuseI like how you had someone see how childlike Rico appears, although ironically, he looks so much older b/c of everything he's been through. Somehow, I take it to go back to that theme that the youth is the hope for the future, but their youth is being destroyed by the apathy of the day, and that's plunging everyone into despair. I must add that I quite hate Ray now. Although, essentially, nobody seems to be good or bad anymore. But the way you make him just makes me feel so angry towards him--willing to put someone through that kind of suffering for ANY reason is just demonic. And it makes it worse that it's Rico he's doing it to--b/c Rico, being one of the "young" (well, sort of), has a sense of innocence to him (like Morgan and Lora do) and it's just terrible to see that being destroyed. Anyhoo, I'm itching to finally find out how Ray will react when he learns that Lora has "switched sides"... Good job again! luv, Miss Pookamonga ;p |
| Miss Pookamonga 2007-12-30 ch 33, | abuseThat was so powerful, especially the end. Wow... I like how you expanded on what happened to Rico at the Institute, although you remained ambiguous as to why he was there in the first place (which made the effect better, I think). And I love how after Rico showed Ray and his friends the scars, Ray's friends weren't sure anymore what side to be on--once again, the evidence of dissipating order in this story. For a minute, I thought Ray might feel guilty--but I like how you continued his descent of sorts into the heartlessness of the "side" he's working against. In a way, they're all the same--there are no sides. They're motivated to do terrible things to human life because their own lives have been exploited. I like the common ground you've put the characters on now. And I must say, the last paragraph was absolutely amazing--the crazed imagery of the white Institute and the irony of it all being "black as soot" b/c of the destruction of human life that was brought about there, and the black soot imagery shifting into the memory of Harris on the train tracks before Rico blacks out. It's like the train was running Rico down that time--in a symbolic way, it's run them all down, including Ray. Amazing job. Can't wait for more! Happy New Year! Luv, Miss Pookamonga ;-P |
| Miss Pookamonga 2007-12-30 ch 32, | abuseAgh! I love it! A code! I never would've thought... but then, neither did they, until now. I like the cute reaction of Morgan jumping up and down waving the paper XD And the little exchange b/t him and Lora at the end, aw :P My favorite part, however, would have to be: "There was desperation in his eyes. Lora saw it. This had been their one chance to find an answer. She could tell that they all had been expecting to find some great secret, some all-encompassing truth that would finally tell them why. And all she had found was a simple statement, reminding them once again that they were doomed, that no-one was coming to save them." So profound. I love the part about "some all-encompassing truth that would finally tell them why." It sums up the whole story so far, I think. What this has been about is people searching for why, the why behind the tragedy that happens in their lives--just like everybody in the world does from day to day. And I like the end about the "simple statement" part for the sheer fact that it too sums up the path of everyday human life. We're always searching for answers, but in the end, sometimes all we get is a simple reminder that this is the way it is, that sometimes we can't find the why, and sometimes we just have to wait for it to come, or to keep searching. Great job ^_^ Luv, Miss Pookamonga ;-P |
| Miss Pookamonga 2007-12-30 ch 31, | abuseMerry Christmas! Wow, I like how you implicated that there has been a "change" in Ray's character, especially with the bit about the red light shining on him. It's almost as if that signifies that he is becoming as de-humanized as he believes the "terrorists" are. I like how you sort of put him and them on the same level; oh, the irony, I love it XD I wonder how he'll react when he meets Lora again and hears what she has to say?? Hmm...off to read the next chaps! Luv, Miss Pookamonga ;-P |
| xbluxmoonx 2007-12-30 ch 33, | abuseah, poor rico! that is so- grr...! >_> |
| xbluxmoonx 2007-12-27 ch 32, | abuseoh. awesoomee! i liked these two chapters lots. aw, poor rico! anyway, the little moment between lora and morgan was so cute, =D. anywayz, merry christmas to you too and happy new year! ^_^ can't wait for your next update! |
| Miss Pookamonga 2007-12-12 ch 30, | abuseWow. This is honestly the best chapter you have written so far. I love how emotional and how heartwrenching it was, especially with Morgan's reliving the entire event before his eyes. I also love how you seemed to establish Lora as his pillar of strength, giving him the encouragement and comfort he needed to face his fear. Somehow I find it symbolic of her being a pillar of strength for the whole group, and being the one to help ease them out of the shells they have hidden in for 2 years. Morgan's struggle b/t giving in to his pain and fear and wanting to save Lora from the train was an especially powerful moment--I get the feeling that it's foreshadowing a change in him. Or perhaps a return to the person he once was. My sense is that he feels a closeness to Lora because he sees in her the strength and vibrance he had before the tragedy, and that he wants to return to that. I love how you had him finally overcome his fear momentarily b/c he didn't want to see the same tragedy replayed again, and how you specified that he especially didn't want it to happen to Lora. It relayed that hidden strength in him and his growing care for Lora (plus, I think he *likes* her, as you kind of hinted at in the cute little bus scene). My final note: I like the ambiguity and the foreboding quality of Harris' message, "No Hope". Somehow I feel it's setting the mood for the rest of the story. Anyway, superb job, I cannot possibly sum up how great this chap was, seriously. Can't wait for the next one! Luv, Miss Pookamonga ;-P PS: If you don't mind, I'd like to ask for your prayers again, this time for the family of an English teacher at my school who just lost his wife last week due to a very bad seizure caused by undiagnosed epilepsy. He has twin 18-month-olds that he now has to care for w/ the help of his parents and their nanny, and it's going to be especially hard for the family to get through Christmas this year. Thanks. |
| xbluxmoonx 2007-12-04 ch 30, | abusegah! that was really good! aww, poor morgan! this was an awesome chapter! i was half-expecting him to finally talk and yell out her name or something. heh. but nice cliffie too. lol. =D can't wait for the next update! |
| Miss Pookamonga 2007-11-30 ch 29, | abuseOh, I really loved this chapter. I love the Lora-Morgan bonding that was in this one. It showed a lot of similarities b/t the two, I think--maybe it's b/c they are both young, but I think it's more than that. I like how comfortable they immediately seem to be around each other; I expected as much, since you sort of hinted at that earlier in the story. I like the bit about Lora wanting to go escape and find Ray, but her not being able to do it b/c her "conscience wouldn't let her." My guess is that now that she knows and recognizes the little makeshift "family" as human beings and knows what they went through, she feels sort of a responsibility toward them to help them find the answers they need. I think, in a way, she feels like she is part of that "family" now--and I like how it's established, the whole idea of her duty to this family vs. her love for her old one in this chap, whether you intended to do that or not. And I'm glad you had her encourage Morgan to go to the train station finally, after 2 years--somehow I see it as an indicator that she will herself is the one who will lead the group to what they want to know. Anyhoo, great job again! Luv, Miss Pookamonga ;-P |
| xbluxmoonx 2007-11-29 ch 29, | abusegah, i better story alert this. i don't drop by often enough anymore. =] heh, i liked this chapter. hope you go further in depth with these characters, especially lora. she's not as in depth as far as the story has gone, and maybe she could use a little more detail you know? anyway, awesome chap as always and i'm looking forward to the next. ^_^ |
| Jon Emery 2007-11-26 ch 1, | abuseI had to stop and review this first chapter before I went any further... Doubt I will be saying anything that you haven`t already heard from the 85 other reviews lol. Your vision of London in the future is perfect, just different enough from the city that I know and love that it is believable. And I like the image of Morgan, like a shape-shifter, following the same person every day in a new disguise. The final paragraph is very clever, and the last sentence is brilliant. |
| xbluxmoonx 2007-11-23 ch 28, | abuseaww, cute chappy. ok, no crying or anything. ^_^ heehee, i like all of em now. i didn't know Ku was only turning thirty. i thought he was older. yayz. and i forgot, how old is Morgan? just curious. :-) |
| xbluxmoonx 2007-11-23 ch 27, | abuse:-( that's so sad. my nose is getting that little tickly feeling before i cry. you did an awesome job with this chapter. |
| Miss Pookamonga 2007-11-21 ch 28, | abuseWow...she's switched sides! I wasn't sure she would do it that fast, or even if she would do that at all--for awhile I just thought she'd be wrestling w/ confusion. But my guess is that Korin and Morgan's conversation is what did it--since it was so personal and so heartwrenching. And I like that everyone seems to warm up to Lora's change except Ku because of his dare I say secretive? nature...I think he's trying to box himself in from feeling anything anymore. Like I said in a previous review, I think it's b/c he doesn't want to experience more hurt, like Korin has. But, I do get the sense now that he really doesn't hate Lora, but that he actually might see some of himself in her and he both dislikes and likes that. Anyhoo, I also like how Morgan and Lora are sort of separated from the others b/c they are younger, and how Morgan wants to take her for a walk b/c of that...I have a feeling that their being young is going to be an important factor later. Now, here comes the part I was anticipating...now that she's switched sides, how is she going to deal w/ Ray when he finds her? B/c I'm pretty sure he's going to find her soon ;D Anyhoo, great Job again! And Happy Thanksgiving (although you're not American ^_^) Luv, Miss Pookamonga ;-P |
