I rather liked it, tragic though it was. Your writing is very polished, grammar and all, which is a rare occurence from what I have come to see. The only thing I would say is italicize/underline the book titles and maybe italicize Em's thoughts, but that's all.

Sad but good. Richard truly had a noble heart. Well written.
