I'm almost afraid to take a shot at what I think this may be about. It seems so varied throughout the stanzas. The first one makes me think of child abuse (I'm terribly morbid) because of the 'dancing shadows' line. Second stanza it seems like it's about some type of eating disorder (picked that one up from 'beautiful and vanishing'; mostly the vanishing part). Third stanza sounds like dying and the last line makes me think of an Aztec shrine to the creator gods. Go figure.
So, what is it REALLY about?
