abuseThe solution to Iraq is painfully simple. It begins with an "n" and ends in "uke".

abuseAs a Marine your perceptions are far off. As a Civillian Affairs Marine I can tell you, you're missing the ballpark altogether.

The solution to Iraq isn't as simple as leave, or dont leave. I believe with all of my heart that the solution is in widespread microeconomics with prepared macroeconomics in the long run.

Secondly if America leaves, there will be wide spread massacre. The Shieks and Imams and Mayors and other politician, in some areas aren't entirely bad.. wouldn't say they're all innocent, but they are people like us.

You can't look at Iraqis through our eyes. You have to try to wear the cultural perception glasses. Family is everything to them, hospitality is everything to them. And so much more. If we stay, there will be some fighting. However, if you can help the average Iraqi go out and find work. He wont take the hundred dollars from the insurgents to plant an IED or look the other way as one is being planted.

What lengths would you go to if your family was starving? Would you take fruitless potshots at an overwhelming force to feed you six children? Try getting into that mindset. However, if you can get them jobs and provide descent security for them they wont have to go to those levels in order to provide for there families. This strategy is working in Al Quim, and it can work every where else in the country.

Iraq is a secular country compared to the rest of the Mid-East, they arent all religous fanatics as youd like to think. Theyre good people that have been supressed for too long.

As for the rest of your essay, citing the so called invasions since the late 1700s. I think the average history book would disagree with you enough. Go to school, open one up and appreciate a descent education. And before you go out and call me an unappreciative cold heart conservative hag. I good midwestern liberal.

You just haven't had a descent education yet.

abuseAnd you're right. It's impossible to hold a hostile area for long. It was a stupid War to start. But now that the US have started it, you tell it to move back and let other people clean up the mess it created?

It's not "America: The nation that abandoned people who needed help." but America: The nation that invaded a country and started a war, and abandon the nation.

You start something, you have the responsibility to finish it. If not everyone will turn on you, and America cannot afford this, not with the global market on the line, among other things.

What America needs to do is to go and change the area from being hostile to friendly. Is that impossible? No. But it is difficult work that will not succeed with the US's current strategies. Trust is the only weapon that could eradicate terror.

And I'm going to point out something about your "invasion" examples. Alexander the Great invaded a big piece of land (understatement of course) and when he died, the Empire did fall apart, but what was left is what is important. The Dutch invaded Indonesia (then just a collection of islands)and united them under their rule and when they left the unity remained until this day. The first Emperor of China was originally was just a Warlord of a province and he invaded the other provinces and united China, and it is still united today.

abuseUnfortunately, this poor essay is proof that casually watching the news headlines doesn't really provide one with enough information to comment on world affairs, especially when you seem to have no real knowledge of history either. The rest of your examples were hideously bad, but likening American troops' fight against Iraqi insurgents to Nazi Germany battling the US, USSR and the UK was especially misinformed, moronic and downright insulting. I hope as you mature you'll allow this little diatribe to die and rot in a corner of your harddrive where it belongs.

abuseYour right in many ways. Unfortunately, many countries have come to see us Americans as "idiots" and ultimately, hate us. They believe that since we got ourselves into this sticky mess, we have to get ourselves out.

And I completely agree with you in pulling out. Bush thinks pulling out the troops equals Americans "losing" the fight. But really, we already lost. Lost soldiers, lost civilians, lost the support of almost everyone, and of course lost control of what is happening in the Middle East.

As for your essay though, Bravo!
