This is truly sweet - pangs right at my heartstrings. Just a few things: It's "soldier" and "enlist."

Adore the lines: "And he faces so willingly/What he knows is death/Just to save a life/Of a child he doesn't know."

Because, in hindsight, you've captured just why people go into the army, and why the fight the wars. Lovely touch of humanity. Utterly beautiful.
