abuseGood for you. Not for writing this, not because it's some masterful creation, but because you've gone ahead and accepted what so many people spend a lifetime denying.

Now, of course, the logical thing to do would be to ignore this newfound knowledge entirely, if only for the sake of your sanity. It's certainly a reasonable path, and, I think, it allows for some measure of happiness beyond those who live entrenched in this cold reality.

Even better, though, is to cast it aside. Don't face the cold truths of this life with ignorance or melancholy - stare it down - tell yourself that reality can go stuff itself. As a writer you have tasted some hint of real happiness through your characters, and that is both a gift and a curse. Losing that glimpse is horribly difficult, but it will not be gone forever. It will come again, and with it you will come closer to happiness than the vast majority of people on this planet. And though it may be pathetic, even insane, to live for a story – to live through your writing – it is, I think, a life worth living, and perhaps, one of happiness.
