Loved this. I can absolutely relate to this (and so can my mom). We recently got a kitten and every morning at about six he starts meowing to be fed and to be attended to. And he doesn't stop until he gets what he wants.
So the only way to get some rest is to get up and feed him.

In 'the course fibers', did you mean 'coarse'? That puzzled me a little.

Hahaa...oh, i so needed that to end my day. The little insensibilities that irritate us so. I love, absolutely LOVE your descriptive writing skills...your use of adjectives and phrases is so much like mine, it was like reading something i had written. Definite potential. Now i want to read a long story that you wrote..

Here's my favourite line: 'her little toe painfully rediscovered the cold, metallic resistance of the plant stand' absolutely brilliant arrangement of words!
