Interesting...I like how you kept the characters a little vague and didn't give them names, if it had been longer it wouldn't have worked but this was nice and consise (oops I rhymed), and my condolences on being rejected that happened to me too this year...anyway your oneshot was very nice and i'm glad for the happy ending.
