i love the passion that your longer stories have. but here, in the space of so few words, you've created the same effect. it's as wonderfully subtle but strong. i love it. i love your people - their actions, their thoughts, their quiet humor, their passion. sometimes when i read your stories, i wonder if there is anything else worth writing about.

I love your descriptions. My brain malfunctioned from glee when I read: "...I had to do the experienced student bit until that topic ground itself into the floor like a used cigarette". Seriously, that's one of the best similies ever. Made my day. The other line "Short loan is so gay" also had me grinning from ear to ear, but mostly because I'm immature enough to find that hilarious.

Ha, that was cute. And this is why you talk to people you're attracted to: so you don't attack them in the library. Although that's fun, too. XD

I just had to write and tell you that this story is pretty much how my husband and I got together (Well, almost): A year apart in university courses, awkward conversations, fumbling meetings in the library at exam time (always at exam time! ...as we rushed to photocopy things and read things we should have read months earlier), and about two years later, we eventually went on a bloody date! (No kisses in the library for us, unfortunately!) Anyway, OTHER than that, this was great! Love the attention to detail and your vivid and witty observations throughout. Wonderful stuff.
