Brilliant! I love those lines.
I found the second stanza to be very well written. The first was generally good too, but border-lining on cliche in the last three lines. Very nice poem, I can tell a lot of heart and thought went into it.

reminds me of the little mermaid...
(that had always been my favorite as a child.)
i think that it's ashame that this is so true...
why is society like this?
i think if we could move beyond ourselves,
jealous, self-righteous, cravings for attention,
maybe our world would be...

I can see this meaning a few things, but... anyway, I like it.

It's a very bleak view of the world, and it of course seems that way sometimes. Or more often. But I'd have to think it isn't ALWAYS that way.. or hope it isn't...

Oh, dark and true! How frightening...I like it (as always) and you get upgraded another spot on the RANKING. I think you're now...Honourary Word Chooser Third Class. Yup, I think. Well, you go from second to third, so that would work.=)

wow. i love the repeating first lines of each stanza. it makes it so...dark, great, and true, i guess. certainly this is a favorite. great job.
