I really like this story. is it new, or have I just been skimming over it for the last several weeks?

Your conversations read as if the people spoke, and you just wrote down the words you heard. This is something that many writers struggle with. Kudos for getting it right!
Although, the characters come off as, well, the first word that pops into my mind is fluffy... a little unrealistic. But it is not such a problem that it makes the story tedious, just definitely fiction.
