| Leyman 2007-11-25 ch 1, | No you will not be hated by the world for your view, rather the contrary. What is faith if there in no movement that follows it? I mean you say you prayed to the heavens for this or that, but did you beleive in what the heavens bestow? Or in the heavens at all? And if it was simply the case that you wanted to believe then you may have to investigate why you wanted to in the firstplace. |
| Vesta J 2007-11-25 ch 1, | I can say i'm impressed by your wording and sentence structure. I can also say i'm not going to make up a review indifferent to the content of this essay and focus only on what an English professor might. I can also say that I understand the logic behind your conspicuous wording, but I must disagree with you in a few ways. -This is not criticism of your perspective, and I am sure you are not the only one with this view- I disagree with what you say about 'pure ignorance', which is mentioned several times throughout your essay. I know that there are many people in this world that do and don't have any religious faith, and some are indifferent to it all. However, these people of 'pure ignorance' are not ignorant at all, but feel they need to believe in something. I didn't forget about the mention of you wanting truth, and how you despise lies. But think about this, surely you've learned about world history, right? even if not, religion has played such a huge role in the development of the world right now (positive and negative), it's practically impossible just to imagine how the world would look like without it. of course, there is controversy over polytheism and monontheism, and any belief in a higher power/being at all. but that's what keeps the world the way it is, no matter how great or sucky it is. -right now for me, it's sucky. but that's irrelevant. I admire the way you point out your beliefs into the most obvious ways, and how logic or not, lies have and always will be part of everyone's existence. I myself am not particularly religious, but some part of me wants to believe in a higher power, something that is not my parents, boss, governor, country leader, prime minister, QUEEN, ...all are the same in way of power. as the pope. 'If "he" has the power to control everything, then why are we on the brink of a sixth extinction?' we aren't quite on the brink of extinction. --remeber the animal called a rhinoceros? 'That accounts for a person's ignorance; their lack of a bigger picture.' it's not quite ignorance if that's the way you see it. yes, a lot of people are unable to see the bigger picture, but behind every 'big picture', there is another meaning behind it, whether very well hidden, or obvious, depending on the persons' beliefs and prinicples. but like i said, i am impressed with the way you presented your opinion, and i do think that, no matter your perspective, you aren't likely to get burned up by any flames. i have some more to add, but i think that's enough for you to understand. i can't examine every aspect, every sentence of your essay without sounding just a little biased, and surely if another person comes across this, they may point out or remark on some things i haven't noticed or bothered to write about in this review. i've come down the point of writing an annoying cliche at the end here, but i've gotten so tired of cliches, you know? so keep it up, alright? (OH! she just said it!! a CLICHE!! oh) -vesta ;) |
