Wow, this is great. The chorus has a great hook - I hear it with a bit of a modern or r&b rhythm, and it sounds like it would be very easy to get stuck in your head. My favourite verse was number two; I really liked the first and third lines where you listed things, especially 'broken wings, bits of string, the things you'd paint'
