| cup of glee and sparkles 2008-10-07 ch 1,   | Cliched topic, but wonderfully handled. There's something a bit off about: "The fan whirrs The refrigerator rumbles The TV mumbles The rain patters" but I'm not sure what. The concluding stanza brings it to a whole new place, especially "She’s smiling, the first in a while And she needs to be saved so badly But there’s no one left to do it" because it's so, so lovely and rings so true. |

I imagined it as one of those ballads where the verses are really soft, but then the chorus is more of a rock-out type thing, except for the last two lines. I can't help but wonder what happened to her, but I think, from the mention of the pictures, that maybe her mother died, or sister, or maybe her grandmother... or maybe her best friend... at any rate, I think someone died and it made her depressed and out of touch with reality.
