This has a WHOLE lot of real-world application, specifically to the war in Iraq- where a lot of Americans are actually MAD at soldiers for defending us (when they should be mad at the commanders, but that's a completely different rant) and don't care that blood is being spilled. This is really really good! [the poem, not the situation :) ]

i think this poem is a little too creepy for my standards. Joining the military takes a lot of courage. I can see the picture of death all too clearly in my head. and mommy is affectionate and it's a shame that the mother in this poem can't accept the choice her kid made here. It's a good poem, but like i said, too creepy for me to like completly.

Oh wow. That was really sad. The ending part surprised me a bit, the mother being in hell and all. It's a heartbreaking story, but well told. Kudos. ~CD
