I like this a lot too.. it's definitely something I know I can relate to and the simile at the ending is insanely wonderful

Some tense issues:
-The first phrase in the first paragraph implies this is all taking place when you are a little kid, which means it needs to be in past tense... but it's completely in present tense...
-my wish would be coming true... wil
-Would I be spending my whole life waiting for him,.. will
-I don’t know how long would I still spend. will
-what I’m hoping for wouldn’t come true.. won't
