Its very clean and short to the point.

I think that its essence holds a lot of truth and meaning, maybe thats why your teacher was so impressed.

I like how you put 'self' at the top and added a period; really gives the reader a sort of cut-off feeling after reading that one word along with the period, which is good in this poems' case.

I like how you put 'you are what you do' because we are so used to seeing things like 'you are what you eat' and such. I like this spin better.

And adding 'distinct' at the end was brilliant. I definitely am favoriting this.
