abuseSuch a good story!

I love your detail and writing style, and I will most definitely keep reading. The Casanovas never interested me much, but this piece of work makes me want to learn more.

All your grammar is *perfect* and you stay on topic.

Thank you for making FictionPress not suck! :)

abuseHa! It was Giacamo! lol. Casanova wasn't a male prostitute... :( lol. I'm kidding but seriously they sound like courtesans. You know what would be great? If you re-wrote the entire story and made them all women. Ok, ok; so that would be sort of going overboard but they get paid for heavens sake? Besides what is Achille doing there? Adventure? And he loves his wife so much? And did he have to be so open. How old is he? And why, for goodness sake, is his name Achille Carducci? Does anyone actually call their child Achille? I'm guessing this was some intricate irony we were supposed to notice; Achilles was brave and rash and strong and virile and his namesake is the opposite. Honestly, not all names have to mean something. But before i sound too mean, I'll go. lol.

abuseHahahahhahahhahahahahahhaha. Oh wow...that was kinda funny. Ok so i'm guessing they start this thing as a lark when they're younger...right? Cause grown men can't be making vows like that without thinking they sound just a tad silly. Are these Giacamo's descendants? (lol, but i'm actually curious) I'm also guessing the movie (Casanova(2006)) was at least part of the inspiration and i loved the movie so this should be good.

abuseAh, okay! A little uncomfortable intrigue, sleeping with the wife of a member. Well, it happens ... And G and M! How-how, how mutually irksome to them, liking the other but not knowing. They kind of remind me of my own characters, Raoul and Corinne. But this is your story and your review!

I like the plot so far and am now wondering how Achille will be with his wife in the morning. Hm. She seems to be mightily disappointed with him. (well, duh)

Now for future plans:

Surprise visit? Oh, definitely. With Giuliana hankoring after Modesto, that could introduce some touchy scenarios if Monsieur le comte is territorial with his wife. I am picturing Bernard (I shall return to the name) as this austere Napoleonic gentleman, someone who literally imbibes the paternalistic civil code that the emperor set up in France. Or, and this is even better, he could be totally carefree and arrive with his mistress, a superbly delectable woman from the Swiss Alps. Just imagine the triangles!

Rule 7375 of good fiction writing, never ever use Google for name generation. Names are sacred. They are there before the appearance, personality, or sexual orientation. Hahaha. You can do better. I know you can! But if Phil it is, then Phil it shall remain. About Bernard though. Was his dad German or something? Why not Yves, Évriste, or Jean-Philippe? Do not get me wrong, those baby names sites are damn helpful at times, but if there is not a cool enough name, then, by god, make it up!

Last comment. I love you for creating Henri. If you have not already decided, can you make his lover Basque? You could have loads of fun with Spaniards, Frenchies, and Basque nationalism!

Kay. Done. Fine work you have. Look forward to more. Ciao.

abuseYeah, I get that--cluttered. I got exams soon, and I am already cluttered with bio and psych and everything else.

An opera singer? And a Frenchy? Well, that is all I shall say since those details are minor.

You know Achilles was gay? He had this thing for, let me think, Patroclus. I am almost convinced that Achille is of the same persuasion. Maybe that is not what you intended, but that is my impression of him. Slinky, kittenish wife he has.

Little criticism, but should not Philip's name be Philippo if we are indeed in Italy? I mean all the other names are Italian, save "Achille" which looks French to me, so it would make sense ...

The line about Modesto being a poet reminded me of Italian artists in general. You so should have a character in the playboy gang named Michelangelo; the name has literary potential, no? I mean you could make him a painter or sculptor, but really he could be anything--a poet, a primo tenor (o!), a fencing master (though that may be outdated for the time period), a ... whatever. Use your imagination, of which I am sure you have plenty. Hahaha.

So, that was very entertaining. Achille ... the poor guy and his wife ... It brought a smile to my face in light of all this tedious exam prep.

I sincerely hope you bring in some Frenchies, not that I do not like your Italians. But, as you may have inferred, I am partial to Gallic men. Hahaha. Besides, American stereotyping has done an excellent job in portraying them as overwrought sex fiends--of course they could have done that all by themselves. I just read Fanfan by Alex Jardin, and he ... I would not want to meet this one in person.

Sorry for the immorally long review. I am half rambling, half telling you how I feel about your work. And no, I am not on drugs, just stuffed with Freud, behaviorism, and protein confirmation.

Nice job ...

Ciao

abuse(gasp!) Blondie ... tall ... Modesto? I like him best. Phil ... Well, he is the leader, so he has to be a little more decorous. And Achille, after Achilles, is just ... The real Achilles was a jerk, but this one is not that bad. Do not know. Very funny. Nice work. Look forward to more.

abuseO, how exciting, a list of characters! Hahaha. Okay, okay. I shall go and read the real story now. Wonder who gave you the idea of a dramatis personae, very classy, the Greek, you know?

Please, oh please, write a short fic on the Frenchy who gets in a duel over a woman. I love those kind of stories. (Yeah, I am hopeless. I am well aware.)

Note on historicity: Was this little tickle playboy gang true? I shudder to think ...

P.S. What on Earth did you do with the rest of your stories!?
