I'm so sorry, but I must tell you of another connection. Have you ever read anything by Terry Prachett? If you haven't you must, he is one of the best writers alive today (in my belief). Anyways, I'm currently reading one of his many Discworld novels, Thief of Time, and it basically has the same ideas as your poem. Great job, btw.
