I don't know what other people see, but I thought of the novel "Speak" by Laurie Halse Anderson when I read this, and the barbie with the tape over her mouth. It's kind of like... a beautiful, wild girl who has hid so much under the constraints of society that she's dead inside. I digress, though. It's probably completely off, right? ;) Anyway.
