Reviews For: Underworld
felicia13 2009-04-29 . chapter 4
Yay! People I love!! Good job, guys!

Felicia.

p.s. Yes, I like reviewing chapters that have little-to-nothing to do with the bulk of the newsletter. Don't judge.

Sweet stuff. Here it goes...

Classroom of the Desperately Jaded: Is one of my favorite on-going stories ever. I love all the characters and the weird situations they get themselves into (and out of) on a monthly basis. Slash is, as always, my favorite.

Filler Joke: It's funny because lawyers go to hell!

Underworld Writing Tip: Good suggestions for underworld writing. Quite helpful.

Random Fact 1: Really? I didn't know that about schizophrenic treatment... so I shouldn't be listening to the voices?

It Came From Beyond the Rave: Certainly, I will check these songs out whenever I need inspiration for dark-themed stories. Oh wait. That's all of them. Thanks for the list!

Random Fact 2: My favorite line in this whole newsletter is "Also, salamanders do sometimes start fires."

Dealing with Death: True that. Trying to fix the inevitable is why No Child Left Behind will never work. It's also why immortaility will never work, even if they somehow find a way to prevent aging. Cool topic; it got me thinking about some stuff I might want to write about.

Around the World: Wow. Looks like someone really did his homework. It's really cool that you have all this information about what cultures and religions think about the afterlife. It's really interesting. Yay Norse mythology! And the Aztecs!

What Caves Can Do For You: I agree about the whole pop culture thing, but I can still find enjoyment in things, even when they've been beaten to death by the media or Hollywood. It's ok. I still like vampires, even after 'Twilight.' But caves are cool, too. It's an interesting approach. What if the only place left was underground? It's gonna happen. We're running out of places on the surface, so it's going to be underwater, space, or underground soon enough. But it'll be fun. I guess.

It's Not Just For Goth Kids Anymore: Great review. Now I want to go find 'The Crow.' Never seen it, by the way. Sounds interesting, though.

Random Fact 3: ... where can I go to see a Komodo dragon try to eat Steve Irwin?

Underworld Writing Tips 2: All three points brought up (rulers, setting, and faith) are extremely relevant. I really want to write now. Thanks for the inspiration!

Alchemy; The Great Work: Wow! There is an amazing amount of information here. This stuff is so cool. I can't understand how more people aren't fascinated by the old arts. Losers. Anyway, this info is great and awe-inspiring and smells suspiciously like something that would make an amazing story.

Well, this whole thing has been pretty neat and awesome. I want to go write now, but I, unfortunately, have homework to do. So... yeah. I knew there was a reason I loved Stop the Press! =)

Keep up the great work, guys.

Felicia.

Hey, Bread. Lookit, I'm finally reading the back issues of Stop the Press! It's a miracle!

And I'm excited about the formatting! Considering I was a big fan of it to begin with... thanks (very much delayed) for incorporating it!

Well... I haven't time to read it yet, but I did notice that my submission isn't there. I try to make a come back, and this happens.

No worries... I'll make my official comeback later I guess.

Disturbly 2008-02-02 . chapter 3
Hello, then. Stopped by to copy the issue, when I got side tracked by the new format. It turns out, it makes it a lot harder for me to copy. I... don't think I like it. All the changes screwed up the newsletter, and they were a bad idea. (Sh! Nobody remind anybody who made the suggestions in the first place. Multiple times, no less.)

The upshot is the multiple chapters will let us leave multiple reviews, and I'll need to. I haven't actually read it yet, so I'll have to get back with my thoughts after they've had time to ferment. However, I did take a quick glance at the drivel of odiferous hack, Disturbly. That guy really seems to be in love with his own prose, huh? More participle clauses than a bloody English book... He's probably worn his semi-colon key down to a nub.

What's worse, there's a typo in his little movie review:

"I hope you consider these just how the film handles the subject."

"these" should be removed. Honestly, if he's *working with WordPad or some other word processor that sucks balls, he **should have mentioned that to the Editor**, in the hopes that she'd use her magical copy of WordPerfect to run a courtesy Spelling/ Grammar check.* How irresponsible. Of Disturbly.

From a brief glance, everybody else looks like they wrote something good. More later.

WyrdWolf 2008-02-01 . chapter 3
It's been a while, but with the new year comes a new format. I'm looking forward to this.

The Classroom is definitely one of my favorite recurring articles in this fantastic newsletter. Engaging, and this one was very interesting; the Earth being called 'Underworld' was something of which I'd never heard, but it's damn cool.

Tee. Lawyer jokes.

I'm not much into the heavy/death metal music styles, but Paint it Black is absolutely kick-**, amen.

There are a damned lot of people who think of bringing back the dead. Pet Semetary taught me enough about that, though, as well as several other tackles at that subject. It's true; we, as a culture, focus mainly on death, number one. ...and Britney Spears, number two.

Wow. China's afterlife sounds like a video game. And a fun one, at that. Buddhists' doesn't look too appealing. Odd numbers. Christianity seems like the template for Hell; you die, you suffer. Let's mix it up in new ways. Greece is probably the most interesting. This array of facts is astounding. The underworld must be a damned interesting thing to study; thanks much for the insight, Discipulus.

Caves: an untapped resource. You've certainly turned me onto them with your wordsmithing, Bread. Perhaps I can utilize this in Creative Writing class (which I, at last, got to start).

I've never seen The Crow. I think it's because whenever I mention its name every girl around me swoons over the apparent hotness of Brandon Lee. *rolls eyes* It's been an attracting movie, though, and I do WANT to see it. At least I know the premise now.

I never knew what alchemy was all about, but it's really amazing. Amazing share, Bread. That was some real mind food.

This was a fantastic issue; I learned a lot, no lie. Well done by everyone. Next month's sounds like it's going to be insane. Hoo, boy...
