| ghettofabulous 2008-03-30 ch 1, anon. | abuseWell, the IDEA of bicycles is great, no carbon emissions, etc. There are several flaws... OK, let's say someone rides a bike to school on a regular basis (he/she does not use the bus system). OH NO! It's raining! This person can not ride the bus because no buses passes his house (he declined the bus stop offer because he had a bike). Well, he/she decides to bike to school. Oh No! A car spun out of control and hit his bike. He/she died. If not, his papers and books are ruined because of the rain. Let's say I would ride a bike to school instead of driving. On rare occasions can my backpack carry all of my books. I usually have to fill up my backback AND carry some books in my arms. How can I do this with a bike? I also have to bring my viola to and from school every other day? So...I should have to ride the bus? But if I ride the bus, how can I get home after attending my club meetings and afterschool rehearsals that I usually have? I have no bike because I rode the bus? I don't go to your school, but where I live, it is impossible to get anywhere without a car. Everywhere is either so far away or too dangerous to try to get there with a bike... My school has a student parking spot and people are assigned a parking spot. We also assign parking spots to those with higher GPAs first. Therefore, since we have a record of who parks where, we can figure out if some unknown stranger is roaming around the school (if there is an unknown car in the parking lot), and no one has to fight over parking spots... Well, your plan would be ok in a perfect world with perfect weather and students who would be okay with riding bikes... but "nearly flawless">> i think not. |
