Clever Darcy 2008-02-12 . chapter 1Politics have always been built on lies. It is the nature of the institute; if people really stuck by their true beliefs and convictions, there's no way they'd sway the populace enough to vote for them. Or so the theory goes.
Anyway, the length of our presidential campaigning in the first place is what really gets me. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've always been told that any kind of campaigning that goes on for the prime minister in Britain lasts perhaps 4 months at MOST. In the US, our presidential candidates bicker and seduce us for a period of (now) about a year and a half. It's ridiculous.
So yeah, I agree with your points, too. Too many politicians play to the center and promise change. It's time for the collapse of the Third Party System... as my history professor put it the other day.

secluded existence 2008-02-12 . chapter 1Well, thank you Lolz0r for your very insightful review. I imagine you would have left it signed if you had actually felt confident about what you said. But for your information, I am not sitting around doing nothing waiting for change to happen. I, for one, just wrote that article. I'm pretty sure that constitues doing something about "it". That's a lot more than you just did, which was complain to me about my viewpoints. That's not helping anyone, that's just causing even more disagreement which will lead to argumentation, which will eventually distract people from ever changing anything. And, oh yeah, other than that... I'm writing a novel about how the world needs to change. With instructions. So sometime really soon it can be published, and the world can read and understand. And be fixed. And then we can all grow up. At least I'm better than all those politicians who just promise change without giving any real steps or reasons. That is exactly what they are all saying. We need change. But they don't know how to back it up. I do. I have a plan. I'm on my way to "fixing it". I just need to get people to listen first.
So, really, to sum up in conclusion: think before you leave nasty reviews. |
 Lolz0r 2008-02-12 . chapter 1 All righty.
So there I was reading this very wordy essay, when it strikes me. You are not the first to complain about governments and electoral systems and politicians. And I don't doubt that you won't be the last either. But what gets to me is the fact that, you along with countless thousands, maybe even millions, have the gall to stand up and say, "What we need is change." BLAH ** BLAH. So how are we going to get this change? By not getting involved? Oh yeah! I forgot, sitting around at home burying our heads in other matters so totally changes the world and society! You don't agree with the so-called "fake changes" that these candidates propose? Then what're you gonna do about it? Sit there and pretend it's not happening? Wait for someone else to do something about it? WELL DONE. Cuz that always worked so well in the past. Hey everyone, if you don't agree with something, just look the other way and pretend you don't see it! Someone ELSE will just fix it for you! |
