I think it comes from Word. I don't know how you fix that in Word, but in Word Perfect you would use find-and-replace, and use ctrl-c and ctrl-v to copy and paste the weird symbols into the "find" dialog box. I forget whether that works for Word (I know Word has find-and-replace, but I also know that it doesn't handle weird characters well). |
