I like that she covers up inanimate objects when they're cold, or considers doing so. Just some phrases that stood out to me: "her black hole (a.k.a. purse).", "a weighty tome indeed" "the idea which had so kindly dropped from the sky"... "I don’t have time to knit a nifty sweater..." - oh darn. Isn't that what everyone does for birthdays?
