I really felt like back to school again and I did not like the feeling. “All the years she had attended this school, nothing had ever changed; now in her last years, everything was changing” is a great sentence to sum up all that is going on. I had to laugh about this “Bavarian…” My dictionary says that Leberkäs is “meatloaf” and we are eating it far from Bavaria (but with mustard not with ketchup). |

The books mentioned in the text are also characterizing Karin in an indirect way. The quote is well chosen and so is the name Karin Schuster. It is such a cliché that in American films Germans have names like Fritz, Heinz or Heidi. The classroom scene is quite realistic, especially the different type of girls. By the way: I am sure that you know this, but Karin or Kathrin) is a short form of Katharina. |
