Oh wow. This is an extremely intriguing idea for a story, and and extremely engaging first chapter.

One thing that I noted as a potential...something, whatever the word is, maybe 'oversight,' though I'm not sure if it wasn't just me reading too casually, which often happens: In the beginning part, there was the sentence, "I do not remember the others quite as well, save one." After that, there were two men described in great detail. I wondered about that for a bit.

But, oh well. That doesn't really matter. Lovely first chapter; I look forward to reading more. ^^
