If I understood the guy is gay. Is that the secret? I'm guessing by this: "Stories broadcast all over the world
Showed those like him destroyed out of hate;" because a lot of people are homophobes. So they killed for it. And that seems to be a secret he can keep. Because if he's black, which people also get killed for being, he can't hide it. So did I guess the secret?
Sorry I rambled on. The point is I loved the message the poem gave. Keep writing.
