Midnight Walker 2008-11-10 . chapter 6:D An update! And I don't mind the short length (well, at the moment, anyway) - I'm just happy to see more.
Unfortunately, I seem to be lacking words at the moment. ;) Though of course, now when I hear Twilight mentioned, 2 things come to mind...*ducks*
I feel rather bad for Lydia - if I were her, I'd be rather frustrated with Aaron at the moment. Vague answers are really no answer at all. |
TesubCalle 2008-11-09 . chapter 6Wow, you updated! Sorry I haven't reviewed until now. I was incapacitated for a while and am finally getting back to my on-line activities.
The mystery of Aaron continues to unfold! I'm hoping you post more of this. This chapter felt so frustratingly short.
I really enjoyed watching poor Lydia try to out-duel Aaron with her pitiful logic.
There's more where this came from, right? |
TesubCalle 2008-04-07 . chapter 5Wow! Can I say I truly enjoyed this chapter without gushing? It'll be a challenge, but I'll try not to go overboard.
First of all, I continue to believe you're doing an amazing job with the characterization. Lydia's inner thoughts, conflicts and emotions are presented with great clarity and insight into the human condition.
I'm very pleased to see you've moved things along in this chapter. I can appreciate your choice in carefully plotting the moves of the characters. Saving some of the 'action' parts for this point in the telling of the tale works out just fine.
And Aaron's chivalry and determination to act righteously continues to impress...and the hints you drop about this enigma of a stranger are tantalizing and a little frustrating (but in a good way!) You can be assured I'll keep reading this.
One thing I haven't touched on is how nicely the humour is beginning to peek through here and there. Aaron's wry reply to Lydia when she comments at how upset Lucas will be made me chuckle.
Lest I ramble on all night, just letting you know I'm looking forward to the next chapter. Off go the companions on the journey (that just reminded me of a hymn I sang this weekend...but I digress) to who knows where? Don't delay in updating, OK? |
Midnight Walker 2008-04-06 . chapter 5Okay, so I'm going to try a review style that I use for a few select authors in the fanfic world - opening the review window, and typing my thoughts as I go. I can't guarantee it'll work, but I figured it's worth a shot.
I'm beginning to like Lydia more and more. Especially learning what she thinks of her feelings - I believe I can almost say "Been there, done that, bought the T-shirt." Almost.
-“No, he was killed.”
“Hm?”-
For some reason, that exchange left me picturing Aaron with an exaggerated "Wait, what?" expression on his face. Probably not the image you intended to create (I'm IMing with TesubCalle at the moment, who says it seemed more like general amusement to her), but it's the image I had. "Wait, what? Huh? That's news to me..."
I didn't expect any less of you, but thank you, THANK YOU for treating the circumstances around Lydia's request of Aaron with utmost respect.
“Idon’t know what I’m asking of you?” - Quoted for the minor error of a missing space. Yes, I can be that anal at times. :P
Also, have I congratulated you yet on how well you write from a female perspective?
Sure, it looked worse that it was. Right. *Sarcasm* I'll just bet she'll believe hat.
Yep, I was right. No suspension of disbelief from Lydia.
“You’re wise to fear,” he said. “But confronting that fear is what makes life worth living.” :) |
Midnight Walker 2008-03-31 . chapter 1I finally get around to reading this, and I'm having to fight to write a coherent review. Not because your story is just that "WOW!" (though it is good, don't get me wrong, and I want to see what happens next), but because...well...
Do you know hard it is to maintain reading a fic while listening to music and also attempting to get your own stuff down before it goes away? Thanks to you (or, at least, I'm blaming you, because...well, when do I not?), I've got WHR snippets that came to mind while reading this (with no relation to this whatsoever, go figure). And I don't know what to do with them!
Oh, and thank TesubCalle as well, for guilt-tripping me into this, though you know I would've read it sooner or later anyway. Um, yeah. Will try to return and leave a more coherent review on one of the other chapters. |
TesubCalle 2008-03-19 . chapter 4So, the stranger shows compassion and chivalry. I like him already. You're teasing us with these little breadcrumbs - 'Aerion the Deathless'...petty wars in Lydia's homeland...her own origins...
I'm really enjoying the flow of words here. You 'rovide enough descriptive detail to show what's necessary, and never go overboard so as to drag things down.
You've brought things to somewhat of a halt with Aaron's dismissal; I'm wondering what sort of conflict will arise to pick things up again. (Not that I'm worried there's nothing more, mind you.)
Bring on the rest of this, and soon, OK? |
TesubCalle 2008-03-12 . chapter 3It's not very often that I read 'Fantasy', but I do find myself drawn into what you've written so far.
Your style is very comfortable to read, and thank you for the lack of spelling/grammar issues. I'm intrigued by the 'grey' stranger, and worried for Lydia's well-being at the same time.
Already the 'world' you're building feels almost fully-realized and believable. Please continue! |
