Nice beginning!

I really like the starting sentence - 'Once upon a time, a man who was almost real told a story.' It's pretty, but I thought it was a little forlorn at the same time, which confused me a little because the sub-genre is 'humor'. =P Maybe I'm the only one who'll get that effect. Besides, the story hasn't even begun yet.
