| Jelly Wombat 2008-05-30 ch 1,  | abuseHey there! I read this story way back when it first went up, so it isn't too fresh in my mind, but a story like this really merits a review. On the first reading, I just really really loved the story. It's sweet, nicely paced, and my only real complaint is that it's a one-shot. I would request an extended version, but it would be exhausting to use anything but heavy flashback sequences if you're going to reflect on the protagonist's whole life. I would request a sequel, but it ended in a perfectly nice place. I guess you could flesh it out with more confrontations between the love interests, but then Diane would know Joseph was the king and the ending wouldn't work anymore. So...the story is best as-is, and there isn't anything you can really change. Good job, in other words. I'm basically just rambling that even though this was a darn long one-shot, I liked it so much that I wished I could have prolonged the experience of reading it. :) I guess in essence this is really just fluff, but it's not the shameful, Twilight kind of fluff. It's a genuinely good story, and while it doesn't teach many life lessons and as far as I see it doesn't have layers and layers of symbolism, it's still well written and perfectly enjoyable. I reviewed one of your other stories too, btw. Not logged in. (I was the prude that wouldn't read several scenes from Absently. Blah. The new chapters are very tasteful, btw. I wish you'd update.) Keep up your various stories! I'll be sure to check out the other ones I see now on your profile, too. |
