I like your word choice because it really intesnsifies the meaning and litereally sends a chill through the reader.

I also like the way the end just sort of hangs there. It left me with at feeling of wonder.

At first I took this to be blood, but isn't blood usually supposed to be warm? Unless it isn't his blood, or whoever he is isn't human. Hmm.
