Greki 2008-03-25 . chapter 1Bertrand Russell? Was he not the one who wrote "The Principles of Mathematics"? I don't know much about him other than he was a philosopher, writer and mathematician... Oh, and was a pacifist I think... he had something to do with Lenin, no? I think I remember his name somewhere when I was studying Leninism.
Hm... He sounds like an interesting fellow.
Anyway, I think you did a great job. I had an inexplicable urge to read an essay and came across yours. It is short, but certainly had feeling. I have to digress on your comment about no one caring for Britney Spears' woes... sadly, many people's lives are centered on such type of problems. I think that people do that due to a mix of a, more or less, certain type of greed... and an unsuccessful attempt of escaping from their own problems.
But that's not what your essay is about...
I agree with you on those three passions of yours as well as him's; however, I think there is even a greater passion than those. It is due to this one that I think we get the feeling that we need to fulfill those mentioned in your essay. That they are created.
I can't exactly name it with one word, but it is more of an ideal...
Our greatest passion comes when we have something to protect.
This something can be anything... an object, an ideal, a person, perhaps? That very thing which marks our existence and gives us a purpose, because if we don't have this one, then we don't have the desire to imagine, create, believe, seek, pity, and especially not love.
I think that is our greatest passion, because if we don't have that one object to protect then we don't see the meaning to fight for anything we desire. |
